Wrestling Biography

Sean Morley, better known as the WWE superstar Val Venis, was born on March 6, 1971.  He has held the WWE European title, the Intercontinental title, and the World Tag title during his tenure with the WWE.

Venis began wrestling in the early 90s, working the independent circuit and appearing in the All Japan Pro Wrestling.  He also wrestled in Mexico for some time, winning the CMLL World Heavyweight title while there.

In 1998, he joined the WWE and used the gimmick of being a porn star.  He actually appeared in several promos alongside porn star Jenna Jameson.  He made his in-ring debut in May on Raw, defeating Scorpio.  He chased the European and Intercontinental titles over the next few years, feuding with a number of others.  He won the Intercontinental title at the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.

Venis later formed an alliance with the Godfather.  They attempted to win the Tag titles, although they did not manage to claim them.  At Armageddon 1999, however, Venis did defeated D’Lo Brown and the British Bulldog to win the WWE European title.

In 2000, Venis feuded with Rikishi and eventually turned heel.  Trish Stratus became his manager and he debuted with a new outfit, dropping the porn star gimmick.  He defeated Rikishi to win his second Intercontinental title.

In 2000, Venis’s character was rewritten, and he joined Right to Censor.  He became almost the complete opposite of his porn star character, trying to censor many provocative storylines.  Then the stable broke up, Venis vanished from the WWE while he recovered from a surgery.

In 2002, Venis picked up his porn star gimmick once again.  He first appeared on Raw, but he was moved to Smackdown before the year was up.  There, he took the name “The Big Valbowski.”  In 2002, he became Chief of Staff of the WWE under his real name.  This lasted for a year before being “fired.”  He was re-hired, however, and returned as Val Venis.  He appeared on Heat and Raw during this time.  However, in January of 2009, he was released from his WWE contract.
