Wrestling Biography

Afa Anoa’i, Jr., better known as the WWE superstar Manu, was born on October 6 of 1984.  A Samoan-American professional wrestler who is related to Rikishi and the Rock, Manu is was a part of RAW.  Before joining the WWE, he trained with his father, Afa, and he made his debut at age 14 in Austria.  Manu wrestled for his family’s wrestling promotion, World Xtreme Wrestling, before the WWE offered him a chance to try out in October of 2006.

Manu tried out at Deep South Wrestling, and he was offered a contract after a month.  He began using his father’s name, Afa, while at DSW.  He also formed an alliance with several others, including Sonny Siaki.  The two were later moved to Florida Championship Wrestling, but they split in September of 2007 when Siaki was released from his WWE contract.  Manu was then moved to Ohio Valley Wrestling where he and Matt Anoa’i formed a tag team.

In November of 2007, Manu made his WWE debut as Mai Tai Anoa’i.  He lost his first match on Heat, however, he was later suspended for a month for violating the WWE Wellness Policy.  However, he reappeared at Unforgiven under the name Manu.  He assisted Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase in tiehr attack against Cryme Tyme, and he later attacked CM Punk and Kofi Kingston.  His first singles match was against Batista in November, but he lost the match.  Shortly thereafter, he joined Randy Orton and Rhodes in forming The Legacy.

Manu failed his Legacy test when Matt Hardy defeated him, and he was kicked out of The Legacy.  However, after Sim Snuka was also kicked out of the group, he and Manu formed their own group.  They attempted revenge on The Legacy in January of 2009 but were betrayed by Ted DiBiase, who was only pretending to assist the two. He was later released from the WWE in Feburary 2009.
