Wrestling Biography

Jeff Hardy is one half of the Hardy Boyz tag team along with his real-life brother Matt.  Jeff, the younger of the two, was born on August 31, 1977, in North Carolina.  He and his brother started OMEGA, a wrestling promotions company in North Carolina that has produced a number of WWE superstars.  In addition to that, the two have wrestled both as a tag team and individually in the WWE since 1994.  They have held the World Tag Team title six times together and the WCW tag title once.  Jeff has held several solo titles as well, including four Intercontinental titles, three Hardcore titles, the European title, the Light Heavyweight title, and the WWE Championship.

Jeff made his debut in 1994 as a jobber.  He and Matt’s main job was to appear on WWE to simply lose to the superstars.  However, in 1999, they broke away from that role and won their first ever tag team title.  The next year, they joined forces with Lita to become Team Extreme.  It was their feuds with Edge and Christian and the Dudley Boyz that made tag team wrestling very popular.  Over the years, the three teams would pass the championship title back and forth and would participate in some of the most exciting matches on Raw and Smackdown

At the end of 2001, Jeff and his brother had a falling out and become solo wrestlers.  It was during this time that Jeff won a number of solo titles.  However, in 2003, he decided to leave the WWE because of drug use and injuries.  In 2004, after a year of resting and getting back in shape, Jeff joined TNA Wrestling.  However, he soon left TNA and, in 2006, returned to WWE.  Once he rejoined WWE, he and Johnny Nitro got into a battle over the Intercontinental title.  It was that feud that led Jeff and his brother to reform the Hardy Boyz.  In 2008, even though they wrestled together, the two still worked solo, and in December of 2008, Jeff became the WWE Champion for the first time.

After winning the WWE Championship, he was involved in many scripted accidents which culminated in a match with Edge at the 2009 Royal Runmble where Hardy lost the title after Matt Hardy interferred and hit Jeff with a chiar shot to the head.  This led to Matt revealing that he was behind the accidents and two matches, one being at Wrestlemania 25 in an Extreme Rules match (which Matt won) and the next month in a I Quit match (which Jeff won) to end the feud.

After winnning the World Heavyweight Championship from Edge, he blindsided by CM Punk who was cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase, only after Hardy was champion for a little over a minute. Punk won the imprmptu match and a series of return matches ensued with Hardy winning one by DQ and Hardy regaining the title at Night of Champions. This was followed by Hardy losing the belt the next month in a TLC match back to Punk. Their final encounter was in a "Loser Leaves Smackdown" match. At this point, Hardy's contract expired and it was known he was taking time off so he lost the match to Punk.
