Wrestling Biography

Brian Kendrick is a former WWE superstar who wrestled as The Brian Kendrick.  He was born on May 29, 1979, and has worked on several different wrestling promotions.  He has held the MCW Southern Light Heavyweight, the MCW Southern Tag Team, and the NWA International Junior Heavyweight titles.  Since joining the WWE, Kendrick has won the WWE and the World Tag Team titles with Paul London.  The two currently hold the record for being the longest reigning WWE tag champions.

Kendrick began wrestling at NWA Southwest before attending the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy.  There, he wrestled under the name Spanky.  In 1999, Kendrick wrestled professionally for the first time.  Shortly thereafter, in 2000, he signed a developmental contract with the WWE and moved to Memphis Championship Wrestling, where he won a number of titles.  In 2002, he wrestled for various other promotions, including Ring of Honor, All Pro Wrestling, and the Heartland Wrestling Association.  He then moved to Japan for a short time to wrestle internationally.

In 2002, the WWE offered him a full-time contract, but Kendrick first had to complete his commitment to the independent circuit.  He finally made his WWE debut in January of 2003 on Velocity.  His first WWE gimmick included wearing a different mask for each match, but he dropped that gimmick when he began appearing on Smackdown in May of 2003.

Kendrick’s time with the WWE was short lived.  In January of 2004, he returned to independent wrestling, primarily in Japan.  He then worked briefly for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and Ring of Honor.  However, he returned to the WWE in July of 2005, forming a tag team with Paul London.  The two quickly seized the tag team title and successfully defended it against many different challengers, holding it for 331 days.  In 2007, Kendrick was transferred to RAW.

When he returned to Smackdown a year later, he started using the name The Brian Kendrick. He became a heel and, equipped with his bodyguard Ezekiel Jackson, was involved in the Championship Scramble for the WWE Championship at Unforgiven 2008. After being drafted to RAW with a few unsuccessful pairings and feuds, he was released in July 2009. He is currently wrestling in Dragon Gate USA.
