Wrestling Biography

WWE superstar R-Truth was born Ron Killings in January of 1972.  In addition to being a professional wrestler, R-Truth is also a successful rapper.  He has worked for TNA Wrestling and currently wrestles on WWE Smackdown.  He has been the NWA World Heavyweight Champion twice.

R-Truth began his rap career at 16, but in order to fund it, he turned to selling drugs.  After being arrested, he spent a little over a year in prison.  During that time, he swore to find a legitimate career, and after leaving jail, he met a member of the National Wrestling Alliance.  At the time, R-Truth was not interested, but two years later, he changed his mind.  In 1997, he appeared as a manager, and in 1999, he made his NWA debut as K-Krush on Wildside.

In 1999, he signed a developmental contract with the WWE and began training at Memphis Championship Wrestling.  He quickly won the MCW Southern Heavyweight title, although he did not hold the title for long.  Killings (as K-Kwik) and Road Dogg formed a tag team and appeared on Raw.  At Armageddon 2000, the two had a shot at the WWE Tag Team titles, but the four-way tag team battle was ultimately won by the team of Edge and Christian.

Road Dogg left the WWE shortly thereafter, and while R-Truth worked as a solo wrestler for a bit winning the Hardcore title but he ended up leaving the WWE.  In 2002, he joined Xtreme Pro Wrestling, but he didn’t stay with them for very long.  He instead moved to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, where he would stay until 2007.  While with TNA Wrestling, he used the name K-Krush and was mainly a heel.  He later began using the name Ron “the Truth” Killings. During this time, he beat Jeff Jarrett for the NWA Heavyweight title becoming the first recognized black NWA World Champion in history.

In 2003, he formed the stable 3Live Kru and claimed the NWA World Tag title.  The stable was quite successful and held a number of the NWA titles.  However, they broke up in 2006.  In December 2007, R-Truth and TNA went their separate ways.  This left R-Truth available to resign with the WWE in 2008, and he has appeared on Smackdown since July.
