Wrestling Biography

Drew McIntyre was born Drew Galloway in Scotland in 1985 and is currently on Friday Night Smackdown. He began training for professional wrestling at age 15 with England's FWA Academy. He started in British Championship Westling and in 2003, McIntyre was declared BCW Heavyweight Champion by his manager and ended up losing the title that same night. He wound up winning the title back in an 'I Quit" match against Colin McKay. In 2005, McIntyre went to Irish Whip Wrestling and went on to beat Sheamus O'Shaughnessy for the top title in IWW and become the youngest champion at 21 years old.

 

McIntyre would go on to win another title overseas in the Insane Championship Wrestling promotion by becoming the first ever ICW champion in a Triple Threat 30 minute Iron Man match in October 2006. He lost the title in July 2007 in a five man elimination match but in additon, lost his IWW title by being stripped of the belt after not showing up for missing several title defenses. In May 2007, he signed a developmental deal with the WWE and reported to Ohio Valley Wrestling.

 

He debuted in OVW  defeated Paul Buchill in a dark match and made his OVW television debut on Ocotber 2007. He made his WWE debut a few days later on Smackdown defeating Brett and Brian Major in consecutive weeks. At the beginning of 2008, he was moved to RAW and defeated Charlie Haas and after that wa sent down to Florida Championship wrestling. McIntyre along with his tage partner Stu Sanders defeated The Puerto Rican Nightmares (Eddie Colon and Eric Perez)  for the FCW Tag Team titles. They lost the titles back to the Nightmares and the tag team was broken up. He defeated Eric Perz  for the FCW Heavyweight Championship in March 2009 but lost it to Tyler Reks in June.

 

On August 28, McIntyre redebuted in Smackdown and began a program with R-Truth. After that, Finlay was next up for McIntyre and he was set for an Intercontinental title shot against John Morrison at the TLC pay per view. He went on to defeat Morrison for his first title in the WWE.
