Wrestling Biography

Born on December 29, 1979, Justin Roberts had no idea he would later become a WWE superstar of a different sort - instead of wrestling with others over the title, Roberts is the ring announcer for Monday Night Raw.

He was first a huge fan of wrestling, beginning with the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.  This plus meeting wrestlers The Ultimate Warrior and Kerry Von Erich made Roberts a fan, and he began training as a referee. His dream was to appear in the ring with Curt Hennig, his favorite wrestler at the time.

At the young age of 16, Roberts began announcing for a local wrestling promotion, Pro Wrestling International.  His first match was in November of 1996, and following that, he worked for a number of other independent companies, including Impact Zone Wrestling and American Wrestling Alliance, while pursing a degree in communications at the University of Arizona.  After graduating in 2002, he was hired by the WWE as a Smackdown backup announcer.  The next year, he moved to Raw and became the full-time live announcer.  He also worked on Velocity, Heat, and ECW.  In 2008, he served as the announcer for the main event at WrestleMania XXIV.

In addition to his announcing duties, Roberts has had some success in film.  He has appeared in Stuart Saves His Family, Soul Food, Sleepless in Seattle, and Only the Lonely, and he made one appearance on The Jerry Springer Show.
