Anthony Carelli, born in March of 1979, is known to wrestling fans as the WWE superstar Santino Marella.  Marella currently appears on Raw, and during his WWE tenure, he has held the Intercontinental title twice. 

Before he began his wrestling career, Marella worked in Japan as a MMA fighter.  In 2005, he moved to the U.S. to train for the WWE at Ohio Valley Wrestling.  There, he and OVW head booker Jim Cornette butted heads over a storyline, with the end result being that Cornette lost his booker position.  When Paul Heyman took his place, he decided that Marella should change his stage name, which was then Johnny Geo Basco, to Boris Alexiev and that he should start using a Russian gimmick.  He continued this gimmick up through 2007, when he won the OVW Television title.

On April 16 of 2007, Marella made his Raw debut.  He also started using the name Santino Marella.  In this first match, Marella defeated Umaga to win the Intercontinental title.  He then feuded with Chris Masters.  Shortly after he lost his title, Marella turned heel and began a relationship with Maria.  He appeared quite jealous, attacking anyone who appeared to flirt with her. 

Later that year, Marella formed a tag team with Carlito and, after she posed in Playboy, he split with Maria.  Following WrestleMania XXIV, he and Carlito challenged for the tag team titles, although they failed to capture them.

In July of 2008, Marella lost to Beth Phoenix in an inter-gender match, but following this, the two started a romance.  With Phoenix’s backing, Marella won the Intercontinental title at SummerSlam. During this reign, he began his quest to become thr greatest Intercontinental champion by beating the Honky Tonk Man's record of a 64 week reign. He lost the title within two months. He also participated in the 2009 Royal Rumble, although he was eliminated by Kane in a record time of 1.9 seconds.

Santino wanted to gain entry into the Miss Wrestlemania Diva Battle Royal and he ended up winning the Battle Royal in drag at Wrestlemania 25 as "Santina Marella". He lost the crown of Miss Wrestlemania to Vickie Guerrero but won it back at Extreme Rules in a Hog Pen match. When Donald Trump brought Raw he fired Santina ended that storyline.
