Wrestling Biography

Randy Orton is a WWE superstar who currently appears on Raw.  Born on April 1, 1980, Orton has followed his father, Cowboy Bob Orton, his grandfather, Bob Orton, Sr., and his uncle, Barry O, in the wrestling profession.

 

Orton began his wrestling career in 2000 at with Mid-Missouri Wrestling Association-Southern Illinois Conference Wrestling.  His father helped train him until he signed a WWE developmental deal in 2001 and moved to Ohio Valley Wrestling.  There, he won the OVW Hardcore title twice. 

 

In April 2002, he made his first Smackdown debut with a match against Hardcore Holly.  As a face, he and Holly began a feud.  In September of 2002, Orton moved to Raw.  However, he injured his shoulder shortly after his debut that left him on the sidelines for several months.  When he returned, he joined the Evolution stable.  Orton then spent most of his time assisting Triple H in his various feuds. 

 

In December of 2003, Orton claimed the Intercontinental title.  He would hold the title for seven months, one of the longest reigns of any Intercontinental champion.  In July of 2004, Orton lost the title.  However, he continued to rise through the WWE ranks and picked up the World Heavyweight title, making him the youngest titleholder.  Conversely, his win angered the other Evolution members, and they kicked Orton out of the group. He ended up losing the title to Triple H one month later an continued to chase Triple H and the World Title but was unable to win it once again.

 

In 2005, Orton and Stacy Keibler began a short on-screen relationship.  He also began a feud with the Undertaker, declaring that he would end the Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania.  He turned heel by attacking Keibler and continued to taunt the Undertaker.  However, even with help from his father, Orton was unable to defeat his opponent at WrestleMania 21.

 

Orton was eliminated from the 2006 Royal Rumble.  However, in April, he was suspended for several months for unprofessional conduct. When he returned, he feuded with Hulk Hogan which resulted in a match at Summerslam whcih Hogan won. After this, Ortone and Edge started joining forces as Rated RKO. He challenged John Cena for the WWE Championship, a title he eventually won after Cena was injuried.   He held the title until a Fatal Four-Way in 2008.  Following this loss, Orton fought back and won the 2009 Royal Rumble.

 

He challenged Triple H for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 25 which he lost but later won the title in a six-man tag match a month later. He lost the title to Batista but after Batista was hurt, Orton won the title right back a couple of weeks later. Orton and Cena began to give the title back and forth to each other until Cena ended the feud in a 60 minute Iron Man match.
