Wrestling Biography

WWE superstar Mickie James was born on August 31, 1979.  While she began her wrestling career as Alexis Laree on the independent circuit in 1999, she soon moved to Total Nonstop Action Wresting.  There, she became a fan favorite, and she was the only female wrestler to participate in the Clockwork Orange House of Fun.  During her time with TNA, James also posed nude for Leg Show magazine.

In 2004, after two years of auditions and calls, James was finally given a WWE developmental contract.  She moved to Ohio Valley Wrestling.  She continued to use the name Alexis while there.  During her time at OVW, she feuded with future WWE diva Beth Phoenix, a feud that lasted for several months.  In October of 2005, she dropped the stage name and began wrestling as Mickie James.

James made her WWE debut on Raw in October of 2005.  She first appeared as a follower of Trish Stratus, and she even used several of Trish’s moves in the ring.  However, in December, James became the top contender for Trish’s Women’s title, but she threw the match. At the Royal Rumble, James professed her love for Trish, and shortly thereafter, the two began a lesbian storyline.  However, James turned heel and attacked Trish after Trish said they needed some time apart.

James won the Women’s title at WrestleMania 22, but she later lost the belt to Lita.  James then turned face and, after a series of matches, defeated Lita at the Survivor Series to reclaim the title.  She lost the title again in 2007 to Melina.  The two feuded for some time until Melina lost the Women’s title to Beth Phoenix.  James then went after Beth and won her fourth Women’s title in November of 2007.  Beth took the title back in May of 2008.

After Maryse was traded to RAW and brought her Divas title with her. James defeated Maryse for her title at Night of Champions and  after a three month reign, she lost to Jillian Hall but she the belt to Melina who was part of a divas trade that sent James to Smackdown.
