Wrestling Biography

WWE superstar John Cena, born in 1977, is one of the top personalities in the WWE today.  In addition to wrestling, Cena is also a rapper.  Since joining the WWE, he has held the WWE Championship three times, the World Heavyweight title once, the US Championship three times, and the World Tag title twice (once with Shawn Michaels and once with Batista).

Cena began his wrestling career with Ohio Valley Wrestling.  However, in June of 2002, he made his Smackdown television debut by challenging Kurt Angle.  By October of that year, he began his rapping gimmick, and the current John Cena hip-hop character was created.  He often rapped before matches to get the crowd riled up.

In April of 2003, Cena had his first title match.  He feuded with Big Show over the US title, and he finally won it at WrestleMania XX.  This made him even more of a fan favorite.  He defended the title from both Booker T and Carlito over the next year, but he lost it to JBL in 2005.  However, Cena was not discouraged, and at WrestleMania 21, he became the WWE Champion.

Cena was then moved over to Raw during the draft process, and he instantly began feuding with Chris Jericho.  The feud became known as hip-hop (Cena) verses rock (Jericho, who released a rock album). Also during this feud even with Cena Protrayed as the good guy, he began being booed everywhere the WWE would go. WWE annoucers would address this by calling Cena "a controversial champion". After a feud with Rob Van Dam which saw Cena get viciously booed at One Night Stand at the Hammerstein Ballroom (an old ECW venue where RVD was hugely popular), he lost the title to Edge in a Triple Threat match. Cena won the title right back and got involved in a few former Britney Spears husband Kevin Federline. Federline went as far as to cost Cena a match against Booker T and even has a pinfall victory over Cena (with help from Umaga).

During 2007, Cena feuded with everyone from The Great Khali, Shawn Michaels, and Randy Orton. However, during late 2007, Cena suffered several injuries, including an arm and neck injury.  He was out for several months, but when he returned in 2008, he re-claimed the World Heavyweight title from Chris Jericho at Survivior Series in his first match back. He lost the title to Edge in an Elimination Chamber match but won the title back the next month at Wrestlemania 25 in a Triple Threat match. Cena went to lose and win the belt a few more times to Edge and Randy Orton and is currently WWE Champion.

Cena went on to face Sheamus in a Tables match at the TLC pay-per-view when Cena lost the WWE Championship.
