Carlito

Wrestling Biography
Carlito’s career began in 1999 when he joined the Puerto Rico World Wrestling Council (WWC). He stayed with the group until 2003, when he was offered a developmental contract by the WWE. He caused a bit of a stir among his fellow Puerto Ricans when he signed on with the WWE, with many viewing him as "selling out." Carlito went on record as saying he had always dreamed of being a WWE superstar, and refused to let the controversy get in the way of this opportunity. Under a new contract, he was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling to train and develop his character. He wrestled with OVW for a year, and also continued to wrestle with the WWC during this time.
In 2004, Carlito made his Smackdown debut as Carlito Caribbean Cool, a name he later shortened to Carlito. He immediately defeated John Cena and claimed the WWE United States Champion title, which he held for 42 days before being injured and losing the title to Cena. Carlito spent some time recovering, and was able to return full time in 2005.
In 2005, he was shifted to RAW, and stayed with the brand through most of 2008. In his RAW debut, he defeated Shelton Benjamin and claimed the WWE Intercontinental Championship. During this time, he feuded with the likes of Ric Flair and Randy Orton. In 2008, Carlito once again returned to Smackdown. He appeared on September 12 as part of a tag team with his brother Primo, and the two quickly won the WWE Tag Team title. Both Carlito and Primo were drafted to RAW in April 2009 but dropped the tag belts to Chris Jericho and Edge at The Bash. After losing their rematch, Carlito turned on Primo and became a heel. He was up for the United States championship but lost in the Fatal Four Way match.
