Wrestling Biography
His professional career began when the WWE offered him a developmental contract. Benjamin began wrestling for Ohio Valley Wrestling as part of a tag team with Brock Lesnar called the "Minnesota Stretching Crew". The two won the OVW Southern Tag title three times. After Lesnar was moved to the main roster, Benjamin and Redd Dogg Bengnuad formed a new team. Starting in 2002, Benjamin did some house shows for the WWE and later joined Sunday Night Heat.
In December of 2002, Benjamin debuted on Smackdown as a heel. He and Charlie Haas became a part of Team Angle, the stable ran by Kurt Angle. They feuded with Benoit and Benjamin’s former partner Lesnar. They also seized the WWE Tag title and successfully defended it at WrestleMania XIX. After Angle fired them from his team, Benjamin and Haas declared themselves the World’s Greatest Tag Team and continued working together.
In 2004, Benjamin was drafted to Raw, and he quickly made a name for himself by defeating Triple H three times. He went on to defeat Chris Jericho and win the Intercontinental title and have the longest Intercntinental champion reign of the decade. After losing the title to Carlito in 2005, he lost a number of matches, which led to his kayfabe mother appearing on the show to chastise him. He went onto win the Intercontinental title two more times.
2007 saw Benjamin appearing on ECW with new look and calling himself "The Gold Standard", although he made some appearances on Smackdown as well. He was traded back to ECW in June 2009 where he currently wrestles.
