Wrestling Biography
Milena Roucka, born in 1979, started out as a Canadian model. However, she later became a WWE superstar under the name Rosa Mendes after appearing in the 2006 Diva search. She finished fourth in the competition but was hired anyway. She trained at Ohio Valley Wrestling before moving to Florida Championship Wrestling. She first used the name Roucka, but she later changed her ring name to Rosa.
Mendes grew up in Canada with her father and sister. She was something of a tomboy as a young girl. The started a business degree at the University of British Columbia, but she later dropped out to be a model. In 2004, Mendes won the Piel Dorada Latin America modeling contest. Mendes was the first contestant from North America to win this contest, one of the largest in Latin America. Following this, she appeared in a number of commercials.
In 2006, Mendes made it to the final eight contestants of the Diva Search Contest. After being eliminated, she nonetheless was offered a contract. She appeared as a heel at Ohio Valley Wrestling, where she managed Shawn Osborne, Eddie Craven, and Mike Kruel. Her first appearance in the ring was in 2007 in a team-up with Beth Phoenix, Melody, and Katie Lea. However, they lost to their opposing team. She did, though, later win a six-way diva battle and claimed the OVW Women’s title. She lost her belt to Katie Lea in February of 2008. Only a few weeks after this, the WWE dropped OVW as one of their training promotions, and Mendes was moved over to Florida Championship Wrestling. With FCW, Mendes had her first televised match against Wesley Holiday and appeared in the Queen of the FCW Tournament.
In November of 2008, Mendes made her first RAW appearance. She appeared as Beth Phoenix’s “number one” fan, a role she played for several weeks. Towards the end of December, Santino Marella introduces her, and the next week, Mendes attacked Melina to help Phoenix win a match. Stephanie McMahon declared her banned from the WWE for life, she Mendes returned and attacked Melina again. Marella then hired her as his intern, and she made her in-ring debut on March 30 in the huge 18-Diva tag match. Her team lost, but Mendes continued to appear on RAW, and she competed in the Divas Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXV.
She picked up her first WWE win against The Bella Twins in tag team action with Beth Phoenix. She made her singles debut in a losing effort against Mickie James. She left Beth Phoenix's side to join Carlito but was traded to ECW in October 2009 and is now managing Zack Ryder.
