Wrestling Biography

WWE superstar Paul Burchill, born on October 8, 1979, currently wrestles for ECW, although he only recently switched to the brand from Raw.  He began his professional training in 2001, and in August of 2002 he made his debut at the Frontier Wrestling Alliance.

In 2003, Burchill was noticed by Dean Ayass, one of the top British managers.  He took Burchill on and helped him gain fame.  Ayass’s management led Burchill to being named the 2003 Rookie of the Year.  He continued to wrestle throughout Europe during 2004, and in November, he was offered a WWE developmental contract.

Burchill was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling to train.  There, he and Aaron Stevens feuded over the Television Championship until Burchill was moved to Smackdown.  He made his debut in August of 2005 on Velocity.  He moved to Smackdown in September where he and William Regal began a feud with Scotty 2 Hotty.  They failed to capture the tag title from MNM.

In December, Burchill moved back to Ohio Valley for some training.  He reappeared in February of 2006 as a solo wrestler, and he began using a pirate gimmick.  He began a feud with former partner Regal, defeating him several times.  However, he was out again during mid-2006 with a knee injury, and when he returned, he dropped the pirate gimmick.

Shortly thereafter, Burchill returned to Ohio Valley, where he stayed for two years.  He did some dark matches in 2007 for Smackdown, but he didn’t return to the main roster until 2008.  There, he and his on-screen sister, Katie Lea Burchill, appeared as a heel team on Heat in February on Raw.  He also made appearances on Heat.  The Burchills feuded with Mr. Kennedy for a short time until Kennedy moved to Smackdown.  After Burchill was unable to take the Intercontinental title from Kofi Kingston, the Burchills vanished from the WWE for a bit.

Both Paul and Katie Lea were moved to ECW in December of 2008, and Burchill scored his first ECW win on February 4, 2009, when he defeated Tommy Dreamer. His major feud was with The Hurricane who beat Burchill who due to his lost, is no longer allowed on ECW.
