Wrestling Biography

Katrina Waters, better known as the WWE superstar Katie Lea Burchill, was born in November of 1980.  While she was born in Germany, she spent much of her early life in Britain, and that is where she began her wrestling career.  Prior to being introduced as Paul Burchill’s sister, she wrestled under the name Nikita.  While she continues wrestling, she has also recently started acting.

Burchill first wrestled for NWA UK Hammerlock and participated in some British verses American wrestling events.  In fact, during the 2000 tournament, she won the Women’s Championship.  This opened a number of doors for her, and she began wrestling around the world.  In 2002, she signed with Frontier Wrestling Alliance, but she left in 2004, citing personal issues.

After taking a year off, Burchill returned in 2005 to claim the title of Women’s Champion at the French Queens of Chaos tournament.  She also appeared in a few matches for the Italian Nu-Wrestling Evolution promotion.  In 2006, she returned to Frontier Wrestling Alliance.  However, come May of 2006, she would accept a WWE developmental contract and move to the US.

There, she joined Ohio Valley Wrestling, and she would win the Women’s title twice and defeat many of the top OVW women while training.  She was called up to Raw in 2008, where she was introduced at Katie Lea for the first time.  As the sister of Paul Burchill, she would make her in-ring debut in April.  She soon declared that she would become the next Women’s Champion, although she never made good on that promise.

On December 30, 2008, Paul and Katie Lea Burchill were shifted from Raw to ECW.  Katie won her first ECW match against Alicia Fox in January of 2009.
