Hurricane Helms

Wrestling Biography
Helms wrestled with the WCW from 2000 to 2001. He was then offered a contract with the WWE. He appeared on Smackdown during the storyline going by the name Invasion under the name Gregory Helms. In July of 2001, his name changed to Hurricane Helms and he became a regular on WWF Heat and WWF Jakked, two of Smackdown’s sister shows. He made several alliances during this time, including partnering with Ivory, the Hardy Boys, and Lance Storm.
In 2002, Helms appeared at WrestleMania X8 and claimed the WWE Hardcore Championship title. After this, he was moved to Smackdown. In 2002, he moved to Raw where, with Kane, he won the World Tag Team title. During 2003, Helms began a feud with the Rock, who ended up defeating Helms on Raw. Later that year, Helms appointed Rosey his sidekick, and the two battled numerous tag teams over the years. The two split in 2005 after losing the tag team title, however.
Helms claimed the WWE Cruiserweight title at the 2006 Royal Rumble and held it after returning to Smackdown. He was forced to defend his title every week until, after breaking his nose, he was given a reprieve. Helms underwent surgery during this time, and after his return, he was eventually defeated by Chavo Guerrero. In May of 2007, Helms was once again injured, this time requiring neck surgery. Helms returned to Smackdown in December of 2008 to begin a feud with then United States Champion Shelton Benjamin. In April 2009, Helms was drafted over to ECW.
