Wrestling Biography

Dustin Runnels, born on April 1969, is better known as the WWE superstar Goldust.  He wrestles on ECW currently, although he has appeared on WCW, TNA, and other promotions.  He is the son of wrestler Dusty Rhodes, and Cody Rhodes is his half-brother.  Goldust has held the WWE Hardcore title nine times, the WCW U.S. Heavyweight title twice and the WWE Intercontinental title three times.

Goldust began his professional career with the National Wrestling Alliance in 1988.  There, he wrestled with several partners and won a tag team title.  After just a few years with the NWA, he was offered a WWE contract.  He joined the group for a year (1990-1991), but even though he did win several matches, he left the WWE for WCW in 1991.

Between 1991 and 1995, Goldust wrestled for WCW.  He used the name “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes during this time.  He picked up several titles, including the WCW tag title and the WCW U.S. Heavyweight title.  However, due to miscommunication concerning a match against the Blacktop Bully at the 1995 King of the Road match, Goldust was fired from WCW.

In 1995, Goldust returned to the WWE.  As a heel, he appeared at the In Your House 4 event and feuded with Razor Ramon.  This feud wrapped up at the Royal Rumble in 1996 when Goldust too the Intercontinental title from Ramon.  This also saw the first appearance of Goldust’s valet Marlena.

In 1997, he revealed that he was the son of Dusty Rhodes and battled with the Hart Foundation.  He also took on Luna as his new manager and began using the gimmick of mocking other superstars and celebrities.  In 1998, he feuded with Jeff Jarrett and Al Snow for a time and reclaimed the Intercontinental title.

In 1999, Goldust asked to be released from his contract, and he returned to WCW later that year.  He wrestled with WCW until 2001, when he went back to the WWE again.  He only appeared on the WWE from 2002 to 2003, however.  In 2004, he went to TNA wrestling, where he stayed for a year.  He made his fourth run on WWE from 2005-2006, then wrestled for All Japan Pro Wrestling in 2007.  He returned to TNA for the remainder of 2007 – 2008.  Finally, in 2008, he returned to the WWE for the fifth time.

Since returning to the WWE, Goldust has been featured on RAW and ECW mainly as enhancement talent.
