Tazz began wrestling in
In early 1995, Tazz suffered an injury that had him sidelined for most of the year. His neck injury was very severe, but he did recover, and he reappeared on ECW as Tazz. He began a feud with his former tag partner Sabu which lasted through most of 1996 and 1997. The feud ended when Tazz defeated Sabu at the ECW Barely Legal event. After this, Taz won ECW TV title from Shane Douglas which started a feud a Bam Bam Bigelow, who eventually won the title from Taz.
Upon losing the TV title, Taz began to gun for the ECW World title and beat again Douglas again, this time for the World title. He held the belt for nine months before he signed with the WWE. He lost in a three way dance.
In 1999, Tazz was offered a contract with the WWE, and he debuted at the 2000 Royal Rumble. There, he became the first WWE superstar to defeat Kurt Angle. During this time, the WWE allowed Taz to go back to ECW for one night to defeat Mike Awesome for the ECW Title after Awesome tried to take the belt to WCW after signing with him. After suffering an arm injury, Tazz returned as a heel wrestler and began feuding with commentator Jerry Lawler. Tazz ended up taking Lawler’s place as commentator after Lawler left the WWE.
During the Invasion storyline, Tazz became the voice of the ECW/WCW alliance. When Lawler returned in 2001, Tazz began wrestling once more. He and Spike Dudley won the tag team titles holding on to the titles for over a month. His injuries began bothering him more and more, however, and in 2002, he retired from wrestling. However, he continued to provide commentary for a number of WWE brands, and as of 2008, he was the permanent commentator for Smackdown. When his contract expired in April 2009, Taz left the WWE. In July, he appeared in TNA as Samoa Joe's advisor. Soon after, he replaced Don West as color commentator on the TNA broadcast team.
