Wrestling Biography

Scott Rechsteiner is better known as Scott Steiner, one half of the tag team The Steiner Brothers with his brother Rick. After an All-American amateur wrestling career at the University of Michigan, Scott began to train for a career in professional wrestling. After wrestling in Ohio in the World Wrestling Association, he moved onto Continental Wrestling Association in Memphis where he was a three time CWA Tag Team champion. He and his brother joined forces toward the end of his time there and started a reign in tag team wrestling that would last for almost 10 years.

 

During their first stint in WCW, the Steiners won the tag team titles three times and Scott won the WCW Television title. It was also duting this time where Scott defeated Ric Flair in a non-title match and went to face him for the WCW Heavyweight Championship but came up short due to the time limit expiring. Scott was gearing up for a heel turn but the Steiners left WCW for the WWE due to a lowball contract offer from WCW. They debuted in the WWE in December 1992 and proceeded to win the WWE Tag Team championship twice within a week stretch from Money Inc. (Ted DiBiase and I.R.S.). After losing the titles, the Steiners had a feud small feuds but left the WWE in 1994.

 

The Steiners resurfaced in ECW in July 1995 and stayed there for four months iuntil going back to WCW in 1996. They won the WCW Tag Team titles from Harlem Heat in July 1996 but lost them just three days later. Once the NWO got started, they began to feud with The Outsiders (Hall and Nash) for months with the Tag Team titles going between the two teams numerous times. In last 1997, the look of Scott Steiner began to change and his arms got bigger. At SuperBrawl 1998, he turned on his brother Rick and joined the NWO. He stayed with the NWO until the group disbanded in 1999 but was an integral part of the groups resurgence in 2000 but this short lived.

 

Scott won both the WCW US Title and Television during 1999 and briefly reunited with his brother after Rick turned heel. In Novemeber 2000, he won his first WCW Heavyweight Championship and held onto the title he lost the title to Booker T on the episode of WCW Nitro in March 2001. Once the WWE brought WCW, Steiner did not go to the WWE immediately and waited for his WCW contract to expire. He wrestled in the World Wrestling All-Stars in Europe before finally going to the WWE. After signing a three year deal, he debuted at Survivor Series in 2002 and was put on Raw. He feueded with Triple H which resulted in two World Heavyweight Championship matches where Triple H retained his title. He feued with Test and eventually teamed with him until Steiner got hurt and left the WWE in August 2004.

 

After recovering from a foot injury and wrestling some independent shows, Steiner debuted in TNA Wrestling in 2006 as Jeff Jarrett's bodyguard. During this time, he feuded with Christian Cage and Samoa Joe until his short term contract expired and he left TNA only to return to TNA as part of Christian Cage's Coalition. He feuded with Kurt Angle and then in 2007, reunited with his brother Rick to face Team 3D at Slammiversary but Scott was hurt during an overseas trip. He returned and the Steiners defeated Team 3D in a 2-out-of 3 tables match. They faced the tag champs AJ Styles and Tomko for the titles but came up short.

 

Steiner would then feud with Petey Williams and help mentor him to be his protege. which led to Williams winning the X Division title. He also challeneged Samoa Joe for the TNA Heavyweight title but came up short in that match. Steiner took time off to get knee surgery but returned in October 2008 as part of the Main Event Mafia and they proceeded to rule over TNA for months with Steiner and Booker T winning the TNA Tag Team Championships. After the Mafia disbanded, Steiner feuded with Bobby Lashley and defeated him in a Falls Count Anywhere match but lost the rematch which was a Last Man Standing match.
