Wrestling Biography

Samoa Joe is a TNA wrrestler who was born Nuufolau Seanoa in 1979 in California. He was the first graduate of the UIWA West Coast Dojo and debuted in December 1999. He signed with Ultimate Pro Wrestling where he was the longest reigning UPW Heavyweight Champion of all time. During his time there, he appeared on WWF Jakked and feuded with John Cena during Cena's time in UPW. After this, he went to Japan wrestling for Pro Wresting NOAH and Pro Wrestling Zero-1. 

 

He joined Ring of Honor in 2002 has Christopher Daniels's "hired gun" and faced Low Ki in what was to be a time appearance but the fans loved Joe's stiff style so ROH made him a full-time competitor. Joe quickly rose to the ROH World Championship and held the title for 21 months before losing it in 2004 to Austin Aries. But during his reign, he had epic matches with CM Punk which Joe came out victorious in. After losing the World Title, Joe became ROH Pure champion in 2005 and held that for three months. In the next few months, Joe signed with TNA Wrestling but continued doing Ring of Honor dates.

 

His debut in TNA came at Slammiversary where he beat Sonjay Dutt and he was involved in the Christopher Daniels Super X Cup, which Joe won, but was put in a three-way match with Daniels and AJ Styles for the X-Division title. Styles won the match which many say is the best match in the history of TNA. Joe got his title a months later when he beat Styles for the X-Division title. After a rematch of the three-way match, Joe lost the title back to Daniels in an Ultimate X match. He won the title back from Daniels and defended against Sabu, Joe would lose the title to Senshi after Scott Steiner laid out Joe with a chair. 

 

Samoa Joe immediately was placed in a series of matches with the debuting Kurt Angle, who had jumped ship from WWE. Angle handed Joe his first pinfall or submission lost in 18 months in TNA. During this feud, Joe won the X-Division title and TNA Tag Team titles making him the first man to hold multiple championships in TNA. In a match where all the TNA titles were for grabs, Angle beat Joe to hold every title himself. It was right after this match where Joe, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall was set to team up for a Pay-per-view and Hall no-showed. Joe went on a "shoot" rant where he ran down the older veterans of TNA. This turned into a storyline over months over Joe's contract and staus with the company.

 

At Lockdown 2008, Joe finally became TNA Heavyweight Champion after beating Kurt Angle and becoming TNA's third triple crown champion. He held the title for 182 days after beating Scott Steiner, Booker T and finally losing to Sting at Bound for Glory. After this,  Joe put togther a group of young wrestlers called "The Frontline" aaginst older former World Champions the "Main Event Mafia". Joe was attacked by the Main Event Mafia and put out of action for three months. He returned more sinister and hellbend on violence with his only duty to get rid of the Main Event Mafia.

 

Joe ended up turning on AJ Styles, his best friend, and allowed Kurt Angle to win the TNA World Title at Slammiversary in a King of the Mountain match. Joe was said to be taking orders from his new advisor who turned out to be Taz who debuted with Joe at Victory Road. Joe went on to win the X-Division title for the fourth time from Homicide but lost it to Amazing Red after Bobby Lashley interferred. After losing to Bobby Lashley, he also lost in his quest to win the TNA World Title in a rematch of the three-way match featuring himself, Daniels, and AJ Styles.
