Raven


Wrestling Biography
Raven was born Scott Levy in New Jersey in 1964. He started his wrestlng career in the Continental Wrestling Association working with Eddie Gilbert and Misy Hyatt. Upon leaving CWA, he wrestled in numerous independent pormotions in the US and in Canada. He started in WCW in 1992 and won the Light Heavyweight Championship over Brian Pillman in June 1992. After losing the title, he joined the stable of Diamond Dallas Page with his most memorable feud coming against Johnny B. Badd. He left the company in early 1993. He went to the WWE as manager Johnny Polo put with Adam Bomb. He wrestled occasionally but managed mostly leading The Qubecers to three WWE Tag Team title reigns before leaving in 1994.
Raven went on to upstart company ECW in January 1995 and immediately began to feud with Tommy Dreamer with the story being that he and Dreamer were enemies at summer camp when they were younger. This feud lasted years but in addition he feuded with The Sandman which included Sandman's son in the storyline. Emotions came to a head in this program when in October 1996, Raven and his lackeys crucified The Sandman on a cross which shocked many in the ECW Arena. Kurt Angle, who had just won the Olympic Gold Medal and was considering working for ECW left the building and vowed to sue if they show him associated with the show. Raven came out and apologized on the same night. During his time in ECW, Raven held the ECW Heavyweight Championship on two seperate occasions defeating such names as Terry Gordy and "Dr. Death" Steve Williams. After years of losing to Raven, Dreamer defeated Raven in a Loser Leaves ECW match in June 1997. Shortly after this, Rave went to WCW.
In WCW, Raven began to appaear in the crowd and only wrestle when he wanted to. Raven eventually "signed a contract" and wrestled all his matches under Raven's Rules which meant was anyting goes. He also put together The Flock, a group of misfit wrestlers to help him win matches. With their help, Raven won the WCW United State title (which he lost the following night after winning it to Goldberg) and the WCW Tag Team Championship with Perry Saturn. After Saturn left the Flock, he was able to defeat Raven and disband The Flock. After thi, Raven was not seen until 1999 when he returned and feuded with names such as Chris Kanyon and Bam Bam Bigelow until he left the company in August 1999.
He returned to ECW right after leaving WCW to win the ECW Tag Team Titles with Tommy Dreamer from The Dudley Boyz (who was leaving to the WWE). They held the titles for several months and once they lost them, they began to feud with each other again. Raven would win the Tag titles one more time with Mike Awesome until losing them to the Impact Players (Lance Storm and Justin Credible). He would ECW for the last time in 2000 and went to the WWE once again.
In the WWE, Raven held the Hardcore Championship a record 27 times and partcipated in The Invasion angle where he on the side of The Alliance. After the Invasion was over, he toiled mainly on Sunday Night Heat both wrestling and as an announcer before being released in January 2003. Two days after his release, he appeared on TNA Wrestling as he attacked Jeff Jarrett and stole his NWA Heavyweight Title. This started a long fedud between Jarrett and Raven which resulted in Rave getting a title shot against Jarrett for the NWA World Title which Jarrett won.
After the loss, Raven put together The Gathering which similar to his Flock in WCW. This group featured CM Punk and was an asset to Raven until they turned on him and joined forces with Father James Mitchell, Raven's nemesis and leader of The New Church who Raven had been fighting against for months prior. To counter the number, he recruited Terry Funk and Sabu to help but Raven later turned on Sabu and this resulted in harcore matches between the two until Sabu suffered a back injury. In June 2005, Raven finally won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in a King of the Mountain match. He lost the title to Jeff Jarrett two months later in controversial fashion which resulted in a feud between Raven and TNA Director of Authority Larry Zbysbko who forced Raven to leave TNA after a loss to Sean Waltman.
Upon his return three months later, the feud between Raven and Zbysbko restarted and ended and with Raven winning a Hair vs. Hair match. After this Raven put together Sertonin, a group of wrestlers featueing Matt Bentley, Johnny Devine, and Kazarian. They were dressed in goth style outfits and lost the majority of their matches with Raven coming out to cane them at the end of every match. This did nt last long andthe Serotonin storyline was dropped. He wrestled in a coupl of harcore style matches including Monster's Ball and Match of 10,000 Thumbtacks before being released in March 2008. He wreslted on the independent circuit after his release and held the CWA Heavyweight Champion for six months.
After being away for more than a year, Raven made his surprising return to TNA in May 2009 by attacking Abyss helping Stevie Richards. After winning a match on Impact, Raven teamed with Daffney against Abyss and Taylor Wilde in the first ever mixed tag team Monster's Ball match which Abyss and Wilde won. In November, Raven returned to throw a fireball in the face of Mick Foley but lost a match to Foley and Abyss. He wrestled on the first Impact of 2010 against Hernandez and Matt Morgan with Dr. Stevie as his partner in an losing effort.
