Wrestling Biography
Douglas Clayton Durdle was born in England and better known has Doug Williams in the professional wrstling world. In the 1990's, he began wrestling and training with NWA UK Hammerlock where he won the King of the Ring title. While wrestling in FWA's King of England tournament, won a match WWE Legend Eddie Guerrero and was the top champion in the promotion. He would wrestle in England and Japan, where he was Global Honored Crown Tag Team champion with 2 Cold Scorpio. He also defeated Bryan Danielson in 2005 and appeared on WWE TV in a losing against Carlito in a dark match.
Williams made his debut in Ring of Honor June 2002 and challeneged for the ROH World Championship in a four way match that was contested under Ironman rules. He came up short in that match but eventually went on to challenege and win the Pure Wrestling Championship from Alex Shelley in July 2004. He held the title for one month until losing to John Walters. He had another shot at the ROH World Title against Samoa Joe but he once again came up short.
Williams began working for TNA in 2008 at house shows and during their tour the United Kingdom. He came to the US to join the World X Cup tournament where he wrestled the UK team. After this, he disappeared to appear a few months later as part of the British Invasion faction with Brutus Magnus and Rob Terry. They got to the finals of the Team 3D Tag Team Invintational Tournament but lost to Beer Money and within a month, the Britsh Invasion joined forces with Eric Young, Kiyoshi, and Sheik Abdul Bashir to form the World Elite. Williams and Magnus defeated Team 3D for the IWGP Tag Team Championship in July 2009 but lost the titles back to Team 3D three months later at Bound for Glory in a Full Metal Mayhem Four Way match but they were able to win the TNA Tag Team titles in the match.
They defended the titles for two month defeating Beer Money twice and the Motor City Machineguns until they lost their titles to Hernandez and Matt Morgan in January 2010. On the January 28th Impact, Williams cashed in Rob Terry's Feast or Fired briefcase and defeated Amazing Red for the TNA X-Division title.
