Wrestling Biography

Amazing Red was born Jonathan Figueroa in New York in 1982. Red, already known for his work in the independent wrestling circuit, joined the X-Division of TNA Wrestling. He simultaneously held the X-Division and the NWA Tag Team Championship with Jerry Lynn. While in TNA, he worked in Ring of Honor and began to tag with fellow TNA wrestler AJ Styles, being called "The Amazing Phenomenon." They would go on to win the ROH Tag Team Championship from Christopher Daniels and Donovan Morgan.

In late 2003, Red suffered a torn ACL ligament in his knee while touring Japan and was out for over a year. He returned to TNA in 2004 and stayed for one year. After leaving TNA, he wrestled on the independent circuit, but made occasional TNA appearances in 2005 and 2006. He also wrestled CM Punk at a WWE Smackdown taping in May 2005.

Soon after canceling a booking in late 2005, his last ring appearance was in New York in early 2006. Red left the busines and worked a full-time job to heal his knee after surgery. After being away, Red made his return in December 2008 at Jersey All Pro Wrestling's Best of the Light Heavyweights.

Red returned to TNA in April 2009 in the Team 3D Tag Team Invitational with Suicide. He lost in his attempt to win the X-Division title  against Suicide. Red came back to win the Steel Asylum match, earning another X-Division title shot, this time against Samoa Joe. Red defeated Samoa Joe with help from Bobby Lashley. He defended the title in an Ultimate X match against five other competitors. He remains X-Division champion with Don West as his manager.
